One of the most significant components of the water bodies secondary pollution is the stirring up of the bottom sediments. Heavy metals adsorbed on the suspended particles and dissolved in pore waters, coming from bottom sediments, increase the content of pollutants in the water many times during agitation. To quantify the fields of increased heavy metal content in water bodies, the authors have developed a mathematical model of two-phase mass transfer together with equations for the transfer of conservative impurities. A series of model calculations of the total manganese content in the Kuibyshev reservoir under storm winds of different directions has been carried out. Spatial heterogeneity was obtained and zones of maximum concentration of manganese were identified, which for the Kuibyshev reservoir was 0.5 mg/l, with background values of 0.04 mg/l. The calculation results show that the contribution of the manganese flow from the bottom to the reservoir water masses is 49%, and the spatial heterogeneity (Cv) reaches 55 %. Using the model allows to give a spatial assessment of the distribution of fields of increased concentrations of heavy metals and calculate the consequences under adverse natural conditions, as well as possible hydraulic engineering measures associated with increased turbidity in the water area.
